Flashbacks

1565, Bourgogne, France Amanda is tutor to the Duke of Bourgogne's daughter, Christina. Rankov is an emissary for the Duke of Savoy, charged with proposing a marriage (and obtaining dowry) to end the emnity between the two duchies. But Rankov is profiting from the war, and has no intention of ending it.

Trivia

	Miles Richardson is the son of the late Ian Richardson, who appeared in the original series (F3, 'Sins of the Father'). He has numerous theatre credits, a few on-screen credits and even an audio credit in the Gallifrey spin-off series of Doctor Who audio adventures. Miles is currently a member of the RSC, and you can read a recent interview with him here.
	Guy Lankester is similarly better known for his theatres roles, and was a 1994 finalist for the Ian Charleson Award.
	Richard Durden on the other hand is a veteran of the small and big screen, with a string of guest-starring roles throughout his career - see here for his full resumé.

Verdict
A one-dimensional villain with no redeeming qualities coupled with an uncharacteristically noble Amanda in the flashback combine to undermine this story, despite some neat interplay between our two main stars. No fault of the actors - the problem is in the script. C+
